Auto on Info Site Manager's Conclusion: GM Likely to Dominate Worst-Cars-and-Trucks Tables for Years to Come
The 2005 updates of the worst-cars-and-trucks tables, per the Reliability Percentrank, provide us with the following chart of Big Three representation on these tables for model years 1988 through 2002.
Linear regressions of degree one give us the following extrapolations of the plotted points of the above chart.
From this latter chart it may be seen that the extrapolation of General Motors Corporation's fifteen-year history of entries on the worst of each model year is one of increasing dominance. However, ameliorating the long-term projection is a decidedly upward trend toward sufficient reliability to escape the overwhelming dominance of the worst of each year that it attained in the 1990s. On balance, site manager concludes, GM should continue to hold the largest percentage of the worst of each model year for years to come (assuming GM's continued existence); however, this dominance should be a modest one relative to that of the second half of the 1990s decade.
