Lexus RX 330 Brake Complaints
The Detroit News reports that the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received ten complaints regarding the brake boosters on the 2004 Lexus RX 330 and has, consequently, opened an investigation on the matter. Failure of the brake boosters requires the driver to push - "slam" - hard on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle.
The Lexus RX 330 is the only Lexus model named in the investigation; it is also the only Lexus model with an assembly plant in North America. In calendar year 2004, 57.6% of the 106,531 Lexus RX 330s sold in the U.S. were manufactured in North America. The Detroit News article did not say whether the brake booster complaints that the NHTSA had received involved only North American made vehicles or both North American made and made-in-Japan vehicles.
The cautious consumer may wish to restrict his purchase to a made-in-Japan Lexus vehicle.
