Hyundai Responds Quickly to Poor Frontal Crash Test Results
Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. is recalling 120,000 2004 and 2005 Elantras to repair a software problem with its airbag inflation system. Hyundai acted in response to a poor performance by the Elantra in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's 40 mile-per-hour (65 kilometer-per-hour) 40% offset frontal barrier crash test. The U.S. subsidiary of Hyundai stated that the change should improve the model's performance in this standard test.
