Honda CR-V Places First in SUVs - First among All Autos, per the 1995-1999 Reliability Percentrank Average
The Honda CR-V scored a perfect 1.00 in the 1995-1999 auto Reliability Percentrank (RP) average. This is the highest achievable RP average and it is likely the first time that such has been achieved by any motor vehicle - small car, family car, luxury car, sport utility vehicle, minivan, or pickup. However, it is a newer model; consequently, this average is based on 3 model-years and 6 calendar years of performance rather than 5 model-years and 10 calendar years.
The second highest 1995-1999 auto Reliability Percentrank average was .92, obtained by the Toyota 4Runner. This RP average was based on a full 5 model-years and 10 calendar years of data. The remainder of the top six are the Toyota RAV4 with an RP average of .90 based on 4 model-years, the Lexus RX300 with an RP average of .85 based on 1 model-year, the Subaru Forester with an RP average of .84 based on 2 model-years, and the Nissan Pathfinder with an RP average of .83 based on 5 model-years.
The top six positions were distributed among auto manufacturers thusly:
Manufacturer Number of Models in Top Six Toyota 3 Honda 1 Subaru 1 Nissan 1 The bottom six were Suzuki's Grand Vitara with an RP average of .07 based on 1 model-year, Chrysler's Dodge Durango with an RP average of .08 based on 2 model-years, General Motors' Chevrolet Blazer with an RP average of .08 based on 5 model-years, General Motors' GMC Jimmy with an RP average of .08 based on 5 model-years, the Mercedes-Benz' M-Class with an RP average of .09 based on 2 model-years, and General Motors' Oldsmobile Bravada with an RP average of .16 based on 3 model-years.
