Auto on Info July 2003 In the U.S. in June 2003, Nissan and BMW Vehicle Sales Surge, Subaru, Toyota, Honda, and DaimlerChrysler Sales Advance Strongly, Ford and GM Sales Marginally Change Nissan's June 2003 auto sales advanced 21.5%, BMW's 19.7%, Subaru's 11.5%, Toyota's 10.9%, Honda's 8.7%, and DaimlerChrysler's 7%. GM's sales, including Saab's, rose 1.3% and Ford's, including Jaguar's, Volvo's and Land Rover's, fell .1%.1 Nissan showed double digit growth in both car sales and truck sales; Toyota showed strong growth in car sales and double digit growth in truck sales; Honda showed a 2.2% drop in car sales and a 30.9% growth in truck sales; DaimlerChrysler's growth was very evenly distributed between cars and trucks.1 Per U.S. government classification, trucks include minivans, sport utility vehicles, and pickups. BMW vehicle sales for June 2003 continued to outpace those of Mercedes-Benz - 24,820 versus 17,246.1 Sales of the legendary Toyota Corolla continued skyward - up 37.1% to 28,596.2 The following table gives historical and year-to-date U.S. market shares.
Ford's year-to-date share does not include Volvo, Jaguar, and Land Rover.
