Auto on Info July 2003 Hyundai Outscores General Motors on AOI Auto Reliability Measure In the Hyundai versus GM war, Hyundai scores another victory. For model year 2000, Hyundai attained an auto Reliability Percentrank average of .4 and General Motors - .28, a 12 Percentrank point difference. In addition, Hyundai outperformed every motor vehicle line of General Motors, save Buick, in this early reliability measure for model year 2000. The following table provides the breakdown by line.
Both the Chrysler division of DaimlerChrysler and Ford Motor Company attained nominally higher auto Reliability Percentrank averages - .42 and .44, respectively. Hyundai has made great strides in improving the reliability of its vehicles since 1988 and 1989, when its Reliability Percentrank averages were .01 and .00, respectively. Each of these earlier averages was based on the performance of one model. |
