In Western Europe, Toyota Sales Surge; General Motors Sales Plunge

In an article entitled "Ambitious Toyota, Buoyed by Europe, Sets Global Goals," the Wall Street Journal reported in its October 22, 2002, issue, page A3, that Toyota's 2002 sales in Western Europe have risen 17%, while General Motors' 2002 Western European sales have tumbled nearly 14%. Ford has fared better than GM; its 2002 Western European sales have fallen only 3.8%. The Journal gave as its source the Association of European Auto Manufacturers.
